2017 Goals: Winter Update

Hello everyone!

Today I wanted to share with you how my 2017 goals and resolutions are going!  In some aspects I'm doing very well, and in other, not so much.

Personal Goals
Read 60 books in a year.
Yeah, this isn't going so well!  I severely underestimated the amount of time I wouldn't have, and it's been tough to spend any time reading.  I've read two books so far, which is literally one book every month. I know I can do better than this!  It's just important that I spend more time focusing on what's important to me, and I'm still learning to do that.  Besides, this semester is just full of a ton of extra stuff!  I'll hopefully pick my pace back up as I get out of school and into summer.

Finish all items in project use it up.
I started the year with a goal to finish up 63 products.  Now, I definitely didn't realize until actually starting that I picked some terrible ones!  There's a lot that I won't be able to finish this year, so this goal really is impossible for me to complete. So far I've used up/decluttered 11 products. That's not bad!  I've been using a lot of different items from my entire collection, and not just my oldest products, but I'll continue to try and use these as often as I can.

Read one chapter a day.
Well, I can tell you all right now this is a fail!  I haven't been doing it nearly as often as I wish I was.  Like I'd mentioned above, I don't feel like I've had enough time to properly devote to it.  Hopefully, I can learn to make time better!

Continue to track finances.
I haven't started this yet.

Create more DIY decorations.
I haven't done this either!  Once summer rolls around, I'll have more time to devote to crafting.

Read ALL stories in FF folder.
Finally, something I have progress on!  At the beginning of the year I had 163 emails, and as of today I have 133. That's 30 less emails!  While it's certainly not the most impressive progress, it's still something.

Clean out my pinterest.
This is also something I've slowly but surely been working on. I've deleted a few boards and organized a few more, so I'm happy with progress!

Complete one reading challenge.
Unfortunately, I don't believe that this will be a goal I complete this year. While I will continue to work towards it, I haven't had enough time to read and really work like I thought I would.

Empty YouTube folder.
I haven't been doing the best job at this!  I need to delete a lot more emails than what I've done so far.  Still, I think I can do this. I just need to take a day to get at lot of cleaning out done.

School Goals
Get A's in every class.
It's half way through the semester now, and I'm not doing as well as I had hoped!  I have a C, a B, and 3 A's. Really, that's pretty great all things considered, but I want to do better! I know I can if I just keep trying.

Attend class regularly.
So, I was doing an amazing job and then I realized that I absolutely hated one of my classes! It's so boring and I feel like I never pay attention or learn everything, so I didn't go for a little while.  However, that's the only class I decided to do that with and I stopped, so really I'm doing a great job!  I just need to keep it up for the rest of this semester.

Finish homework when it is assigned.
Another goal that isn't being met!  As sad as it is, I know that I can do it, I just need to push myself. I have plenty of time each day to get stuff done, I just need to remember that I had a goal of finishing it all early.

Fitness Goals
Squat 160 pounds.
Well, I was doing a good job at the beginning of the year, but I've fallen off the squat wagon!  I maxed out at 115, which is great, but I really need to get back into squatting more often.

Be able to do the splits.
I haven't started working on this yet.

Work out 3x a week.
I've been doing better at this than I had expected, honestly!  I've been pretty good about going there, even if it's not really a difficult or intense workout.  I want to up the quality now!

Do a daily food log.
I haven't even thought about this yet!

Career Goals
Become a Rho Gamma.
Amazingly enough, I received better than Rho Gamma; I was chosen as the Panhellenic Public Relations chair! This is something I had wanted before, but didn't get the first time. The position opened back up and I got it the second time!  So beyond happy!  Because of my position, I will also be a Rho Gamma, so two birds with one stone! I'm so thankful for the opportunity to prove myself, and it's been amazing so far.

Be fun/points/PR/lifestyle chair.
I've had the opportunity to see and learn about each chair, and I've decided the only position I really want anymore is Points, and that won't be until Spring of next year. This goal will be removed because of this!

Create an event for the College of Business Dean's Advisory Board.
This event is in less than two weeks. How exciting is that?! I'm not crossing it off of my list just yet, but soon!

Well, that's it everyone! I hope that by seeing how my goals have been going, you are inspired to look into your own goals and how you're doing.

February 2017 Month in Review

Wow, what a crazy year this has been so far!  Please forgive me for not posting; I just really haven't felt like I've had any time!  I am staying pretty active on my Instagram, so if you're interested in keeping up with more of my makeup, hop over there!

As I look at what I'm interested in right now, I'd rather write about the things I have going on in my life and accomplishing my goals over posting about a bunch of makeup that isn't really a priority right now.  With that in mind, I'll likely only post once or twice a month for a while, until I have a strong desire to write about other things!

Books

Wow, this was intense. It's a heartbreaking, lovely coming-of-age tale about a young man who suffers from abuse at home in a myriad of ways. I really loved reading this and it was easy to continue flipping through.  However, I would not recommend this to anyone under the age of 16. I feel like the content is extremely graphic and could be very triggering or disturbing to some.  I struggled to understand where Russell was coming from with all of his actions, and I'm just going to assume that's just a good thing.  Stepping back and looking at this, I also get a hint of political commentary with regards to the school system, as well as justice.

The end had me shocked and still confused; throughout the entire story I had a lot of confusion with Julian as a character.  He was incredibly complicated in his thinking and I didn't understand it.  I am just assuming that this is due to the experiences he's had in his life making it difficult for him to open up to anyone.

Overall I would recommend this book to a lot of the teachers I still know, as I feel they would get the most benefit from reading this, or mature minds who can look at this and think about what they can learn.  I gave this 4/5 stars.

I received this book for free to read, and after I finished A List of Cages, I started in on this.  I'm 16% in so far, and it's interesting but not necessarily captivating. We'll see how I continue to feel, and hopefully you guys will see a final review of it next month!

Movies
A favorite of my childhood, I watch this movie constantly. I've probably seen it close to 50 times now, but I just love it!  I watch this along with the sequel.

Like I said, this is also one of my favorites!  I love both of these movies, and they make awesome background noise during homework time.
One of the sisterhood's we had was a movie on Valentine's Day! We obviously went to Fifty Shades Darker as you can tell, and I loved this movie.  It's not exactly the most family friendly movie, but it felt like a very dark rom-com to me, and I liked that.

I also went to The Lego Batman Movie in theaters! While it wasn't the most interesting movie in the world for me, but I didn't necessarily go for me.  It was really cute, and one that I'd recommend for any Batman fans.

TV Shows
I've been trying to catch myself back up in Grey's Anatomy; I fell off the wagon right before season 12 came out on Netflix. My roommates wanted me to watch it with them, so I did and it was great! I watched a few by myself too, so I'm now on episode 5 of season 12.

Activities
February was an insanely busy month for me all around!

This month in the College of Business, there were a few different things that happened. First, the Human Resources event has been developed quite a bit more and the planning is going smoothly! I have some more things to work out, but it's going along well. I also was on a panel this month where I got to talk about the college and everything we do.  I love doing things like panels; they make me feel so good about what I do.
I had a lot of big sorority events this month! First, we had a sisterhood retreat where we all went to cabins and spent the weekend together.  It was great, and I had an amazing opportunity to bond with lots of my sisters! I also volunteered for the blood drive with my sisters, and it was an amazing opportunity.  I really enjoyed being able to help out for an event that can save so many people.  We also celebrated our 25 years of being a chapter, which is super exciting!  We had a wonderful brunch and got to meet some of our alumne, which was really cool.

This month for Panhellenic there were a few small events.  We had three club fairs where admitted students came and looked at the college & various organizations on campus. I represented Panhellenic instead of my sorority, which was sad but I was happy to tell girls about what Panhellenic & sorority life is all about.  In addition, we had PACT training, which is active bystander training.  I really enjoyed learning it and knowing I have the knowledge of being able to stop something before it even happens.

Finally, I had PALS weekend because I'm an ambassador for my college. We essentially had admitted high school students come by and participate in a few fun activities and getting to know each other and us.  It was a really great time, and I'm looking forward to it again next year!

I know there are a lot of sections I skipped out on this month, but honestly I haven't been taking a lot of pictures for them or I've just been so busy that I haven't had free time to do anything!  I have a few updates coming out this month in regards to my goals this year!
